About ASX 200 (AUS200) Trading
The ASX 200 (AUS200) index is a market-capitalization weighted stock market index of stocks listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, which belongs to the world’s top 15 exchange groups with an average daily turnover of $4.685 billion. The index exclusively includes stocks listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Because the absolute numerical contribution to the index is relative to the stock’s value, the ASX 200 (AUS200) is a float-adjusted index. As the shares in the ASX 200 (AUS200) index are highly dynamic, their number does not always revert to 200. The index is re-balanced on a quarterly basis by the American financial services company Standard & Poor’s. Index calculation is performed by a method called Divisor, which ensures that if any constituent of the index increases its market capitalization, the ASX 200 (AUS200) index value stays the same.
